OPEF Supporter for 2018-2020 School Year’s

Currently, our Oak Park High School Choir consists of 3 classes: Vocal Ensemble, Chamber 2 (Advanced Women), Chamber 1 (SATB). We also have a Jazz/Renaissance Choir that meets during 7th periods. Our total enrollment ranges from 65-75 students per year. We have performed at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, Disneyland, Hollywood Bowl, the Los Angeles Concert Hall and perform every year for the special education students at Joaquin Miller Career and Transition Center in Reseda, Ca. In addition, for several years now, our Oak Park High School Choir has been invited to perform in N.Y’s Carnegie Hall, most recently this past March 2019. In choral competitions we have consistently received SUPERIOR ratings and have also perform in Disney’s Candlelight. Each year several of our choir students compete for California Regional Honor Choir & State Honor Choir and are accepted into this wonderful program through the Southern California Vocal Association. We perform all styles of music from major works and masses, classical choral music, world music, Broadway, Disney and Jazz and even do some A Cappella Barbershop. We present a Winter and Spring Concert each year which is free to the public. For fundraisers, we put on a Disney Concert, Broadway Concert and an A Cappella Night, where all of the choir members have to form groups of 4-5 students and learn an A Cappella song, which is judged by professionals. The audience also votes for their favorite group. And of course, several of our students become part of the cast of our musicals each year, which I also work on with our drama director.
