My name is Gurpreet (Preet) Sumal. I am an instructional aide for the second grade at ROES. I started working in this position in October 2018 I really enjoy seeing the positive impact I have on my students. I also learn a lot about classroom management from the teachers.
I have seen tremendous growth in my students as a result of the training. This is largely because we were given the tools to help students grow in a healthy and positive environment.
“I work with students that need extra help with reading, writing, and math. It is very gratifying to see that they can progress at a much faster rate because of my assistance. Having more aides allows teachers and instructional aides to work in a team to provide one-on-one attention to all students in the classroom. Aides spend significant one-on-one time with the students that need extra help in learning the subject matter. They help reinforce the learning process so that students can absorb the material in a manner that works for them.”
“The training was invaluable as it taught me to ask students impromptu questions that help with reading and writing exercises. I learned how to use various techniques such as situational scenarios and the importance of positive reinforcement.”

“As a parent of two ROES students, and as an instructional aide, I would like to give kudos to the OPEF for funding this valuable program. The amazing results speak for themselves!”
